Not bad for a 3.0L V8 made in 1995, except it usually averages 13mpg. But with a slush box (+sport mode. it’s not bad, and the only option in the US I believe). I had to go about 25-30mph, though, and do 0-20 in 15 minutes. But could be worse at 3am on Sunday. Nearly ran out of gas completely. Probably running on fumes lol.

Not too bad at all. What prompted this adventure? Out in the sticks?

I would take that beautifully complicated trip computer with all of those glorious buttons over all of the touch screens in the world.

Although, honestly, what’s the deal with metric/imperial buttons. Surely no one uses these frequently enough to require a physical button.

Your OBC is way cooler than the one on the E30 I just picked up.

OBC II, the epic (only a little epic), second evolution. I think the E30s had OBC I, right?

I think so. Mines the 6 button, just does temp, time, date, and alarm. My E39 has basically the same functions as your E34 OBC but its the early version with Nav, so its got the big screen.

I guess you can get into test modes on the dash display as well. I haven’t messed with that though.

I can program my dash to show any of the OBC functions. It’s actually pretty useful to put range in there where you’re hypermiling. The E34 just requires you to push the turn signal stalk in to cycle modes. And you eat what displays on the dash within the OBC itself (dunno if I is the same as II in this regard). What model E30 did you get, by the way?

Ya I can do that on the e39, but I was reading about it one night and if you press the check control ok button on hold it down, you have to be stationary I guess. Then the OBC test mode will come up and you can cycle through the various tests.

My e30 doesn’t have the LCD dash display. It just has the little OBC next to the radio and then a check control button with a light for different features above the rear view mirror.

The seller told me it was a 1990 325i, but the guy he got it from said it was a 1990 325is. I ran the vin through two different free decoders, one came back as an i, one came back as an is. It has the sport seats, sport bumps, spoiler, but it has the four spoke SRS steering wheel. 5spd manual as well. Don’t know if its a LSD or open diff. Will find out when it snows lol.

Oh nice, I was expecting an ‘e’ to be honest. The 325 is good, ‘s’ or not, though. Sounds like the s may have been added later, but you still get most of the s goodies.

Ya its a little rough, but it was relatively cheap. And I didn’t want to drive the e39 in the snow. The e30 is already a bit rusty so its whatever.
